SERVICE TERMS & GUIDELINES
Garbage & Recycling Collection
Garbage Collection
Garbage collection services take place Monday through Friday, and occasionally on Saturdays due to holidays or inclement weather. You will be informed of your collection day prior to starting services.

We strongly recommend that all our customers have their containers out and accessible on the evening before or at least by 4:00 AM on their collection day. In some cases, we may ask that they be out sooner due to staffing issues or forecasted weather conditions.

Garbage carts need to be placed curbside unless we have specified otherwise. Carts need to be visible to the driver from the road. Please be sure that the view of your container is not blocked by vehicles, trees, or any other obstruction. Uncontained garbage left outside the provided container shall not be collected unless discussed with office staff prior to the collection day.
Dumpsters need to be free of obstacles on all sides. This includes but is not limited to: vehicles, farm machinery & equipment, gates, snow, mud, and standing water. Uncontained garbage left outside the provided container shall not be collected unless discussed with office staff prior to the collection day.
Recycling Collection
Recycling collection services are only available to our customers who reside in Marshall County, IA. Recycling collection takes place on a biweekly basis, every other Monday. Please review our online CALENDAR to see which week this service takes place.

Recycling customers will be provided one 22-gallon recycling bin with a detached lid. Customers are not limited to this one container. Jerry's Sanitation will provide up to three 22-gallon bins for no additional cost, sans a small delivery fee. Please call our office to request any additional containers.

Our recycling guidelines can be found HERE. These guidelines are in line with Marshall County's guidelines. Should Marshall County make any changes to their recycling program, Jerry's Sanitation will do the same.
Garbage Contents
Items that cannot go in your garbage receptacle include: appliances, large electronics, batteries, tires, dead animals, yard waste, hazardous liquid waste, hazardous solid waste, wet paint, needles/syringes and construction or demolition debris. Most of these items can be picked up separately for additional fees. Please contact us for more information.

If you have extra garbage, please contact us for further instruction. Some items may require an extra charge. Larger projects, like home remodels, may require a roll-off dumpster. Construction or demolition debris cannot be included with regular household waste, so please do not put these items in your regular dumpster or cans. The weight limit for customers using our garbage carts is the equivalent of 50 pounds per 32-gallon capacity. If your container is too heavy, it will not be emptied and a notification tag will be placed on your container for further instruction.
Service Holds
Jerry's Sanitation does offer service holds for vacations or seasonal services. We can suspend services until you have returned. Just let us know when you will be leaving, and when you are ready for your garbage service to resume. Billing will only be suspended if the time period is for 30 days or more.
Invoicing & Payments
Regular Invoicing
Invoices for regular collection services are sent out no later than the 1st day of the current billing cycle. If for some reason billing is running behind schedule, we will be sure to send out notifications.

Invoices for regular collection services are due on the 20th day of the month in which they are billed. Customers will have an 8- to 11-day grace period after the 20th, depending on the month.
Late Payments & Suspension of Services
Any accounts that have not been made current by the 1st day of the following month will result in suspension of services until the account has been brought current. Jerry's Sanitation reserves the right to withhold services until payment has been received.

Routes are finalized on the business day prior by 4:00 PM. Payments made after 4:00 PM toward a delinquent account may still result in a missed collection for the next day. Customers may call to set up an off-route collection, but there are additional fees associated with this service.
DO NOT RELY ON TEXT ALERTS OR EMAILS TO WARN YOU OF POTENTIAL SERVICE SUSPENSION! This service is a courtesy that we will occasionally provide, but it is not automated! We do not always have the time to send them out.
Termination of Services
After 30 days of suspension without payment, collection services will be terminated and container/s repossessed. Once a container has been repossessed, the only way to resume services with Jerry’s Sanitation is to pay for the next 12 months of service in advance, plus an account reinstalment fee of $50.
Financial Distress
Being a family owned and operated business, we are no stranger to financial hardships and understand that things can happen. If you are having difficulty paying your bill, please communicate this with us and we will be more than happy to work with you as much as we can. Communication early on is important - we will not work with customers who wait until their services have been suspended. In the end, this business is how we support our family and the families of our employees. Their needs will always come first.
